Story: Gay high school planned
Rather than educate students and embrace sexual tolerance, they feel the best way to solve the problem of students making "gay" comments is by giving these teens their own school. Chicago also has plans to open separate high schools for 'fat kids only,' 'Nintendo nerds only,' and 'kids with dandruff and acne problems only.' Once we have completely isolated everyone with a difference, we will finally be able to create a world that is close-minded and ignorant of everything. The good news? They are going to have the best musicals!

I was also kind of hoping we would be able to make strides to properly integrate students of all backgrounds and beliefs. Seems like we are setting ourselves back about 20 years with this one
I agree that we need to encourage a comfortable learning environment for all students, like as noted, isn't this just making LGBT students more of an outcast?
Now straight people in this area will have virtually no contact or exposure to students with different sexual orientations. That can't be good for maturity.
I see nothing wrong with giving children an opportunity for a stress-free, harassment-free environment for learning.
If a gay-straight tension exists in this community, then I can't foresee any sort of graffiti or vandalism occurring near this proposed all gay school.

There are so many other things we could be doing rather than trying to seperate kids hobbies, beliefs and other things that has nothing to do with education. We have lost all sense of what is important and what is not. All kids get picked on in school even the popular, so this is nothing new why is it a big deal now! Let's discuss the shootings and killings that are going on that's what is important!
That's okay. I suppose this school is going to be Separate but Equal. Bring on the lawsuits, new schools are always better than old ones because of all the money that got dumped on them. Someone is going to be screaming discrimination. I bet some girls would love to go to an all gay school where they won't be raped and harrassed.

Anyway, this idea for an only-gay school is either homophobic, or brilliant. Actually, it's kinda stupid. Because I know if it's built, then it will definatly be firebombed and crap like that. Damn intolerant upperclassmen from other schools. Now you know why I'm scared of seniors (I'm a freshmeat-I mean freshman)
