Story: Teacher Accused of Branding Kid With Cross
I am pretty sure this is how Jesus would have wanted it. In fact, isn't there a line in the Bible that says "Take your young disciplines and teach them my word by burning their skin with scolding hot irons." Apparently the line is blurry between teaching students Christian values and permanently branding them with images of the cross. Who would have thought?

This guy should be burned!
A little different than a slap on on the wrist!
This happened in school? Wow, I guess this website is right.
I love how in the article, they are more concerned about how the teacher taught about the Bible rather than actually burning the cross on kids. WTF?
Fundamentalist Christian assholes.
It is a bit odd how its the teaching of creationism that the article focuses on and not the BURNING OF A CROSS IN A STUDENTS ARM.
What was he thinking in the first place...does burning insignias into your skin make you more likely to be pious? From all the jail movies Ive seen, tatoos and brandings of crosses and motherly recollections dont really keep you on the straight and narrow.
(And just for the record: I have a tatoo of my mom holding a cross on my lower back).
Actually, the cross wasn't permanent. It was not a typical burn either, more so like a sun tan type of coloration on the surface layers of the skin. It would be completely gone in a couple weeks. However, that said, this guy was insane. Even if it was an x which he claimed it was, it was totally unacceptable. He could have demonstrated on his own arm if he so desired, but he should not have "burned" the image onto any student's arm period, even if they begged him too. And we all know, there probably were students who did beg for this. If you think not, you should try going back to school. As a former student and a former teacher, students do crazy things. I did know plenty who actually did burn themselves permenantly, because it "looked cool". Lastly, Creation Science has just as much right to be taught in the classroom as evolution, as neither are proven nor disproven and both have supporting evidence. Still though, this guy really does not belong in the classroom even so.
I'd have to say 'only in america'
Taking the world view, and thanks to the media tart that is US of A, you should not be surprised.
In a country that permits creationism in a science curriculum, there's your real WTF.
Oh, and a minor note, to scald is to burn, to scold is to admonish, and usually without consequences.
Seems to me this is your karma for the namby pamby pc society you inflict on the rest of us, so reap what you sow.
I think they should put him in jail for child abuse and let the other prisoners burn a few crosses on him.
