Story: "Relay for Life" t-shirts and newspapers banned from school
I'm sure after the principal did some research, he/she found that there is no benefit to allowing students to support a good cause. Why would we want to educate children to help others? I heard they also look poorly upon acts of community service.

As a teacher, I am sometimes mystified at the cluelessness of fellow colleagues and administration. Rather than focus on learning (or lack thereof by struggling students who deserve more attention and guidance), schools want to send this kind of message? If this happened at my school, the first thing I would do is find my own relay for life t-shirt and wear it with sagging jeans and read and blue bandanna in each pocket. gangsta!

ps. - i love this site.
My school banned Lance Armstrong's livestrong bracelets when they first came out. Supposedly, the disciplinary guy didn't like the cause.
