Story: 1.2 Million American High School Students Drop Out Every Year
When school was fun I don't think this was an issue. When students were treated like people they enjoyed going to school. Now that they've been sedated and every day is just the potential for something going wrong, it's no wonder the dropout rates are sky-rocketing every year.

When students were treated like people? When was that, please?
I just watched a short film from the 1940's that showed students getting respect from teachers. I believe that answers your question.
I think that most teachers today are kinder and treat students with more respect than they did when I was in school (fifties and sixties). School was definitely not fun back then. We just read chapters and answered questions in most of our classes. If a student misbehaved, he was sent to the hall for a paddling by the principal.
@ Betty
"We just read chapters and answered questions in most of our classes."
Right - now those questions are simply achievement test questions.
"If a student misbehaved, he was sent to the hall for a paddling by the principal."
Now they are just arrested, tazed, expelled, and if you are in Florida, sodomized.
